I cannot believe that it is December 2nd already! We are back from our trip to Buenos Aires and Iguazú. We had a difficult time returning to Jujuy because there is a pilot strike with Aerolineas Argentinas, the country´s major airline. We ended up having to stay an extra 3 days in Buenos Aires. Happily my exams were postponed and Elena´s school had a one day strike also.
Argentina is a country of many strikes and work stoppages. It is quite disruptive and very difficult to keep up a rythym that is conducive to good work. That has been a difficult thing to get used to during our stay here.
Our stay in Buenos Aires was really enjoyable. We got to see two wonderful art museums this time, El Museo de Bellas Artes, www.mnba.org.ar The Fine Arts Museum and The MALBA, www.malba.org.ar a museum dedicated to Modern Latin American art.
We also went to the Jardín Japonés www.jardinjapones.com.ar which is a very small and beautiful Japanese Garden in the center of the city.
We also took a tour of the Teatro Colón, www.teatrocolon.org.ar/ the major Opera house of Argentina. It is a gorgeous and very impressive building.
The most memorable part of our trip was our few days in Iguazú to see the falls. They are magnificent. So powerful and so striking! The setting is so tropical and so exotic.
Now we are back in Jujuy for our last week! It seems incredible to think that we will be home soon and that these months in Jujuy will just be a memory.
It is a bittersweet feeling, but I know that we will return to Argentina. It is a fabulous country although the constant strikes and blocking of streets make it a difficult place at times.
