Scoring
The points in the chart above go directly onto your total PERCENTAGE points at the end of the grading period. For example: if you had an 81% (B-) and you completed a science apparatus project, your new score would be an 84% (B). 81+3=84.
You can do up to 2 of these over the course of a trimester.
Note: in some cases, even though you may get several extra points onto your point total for the trimester, it may not be enough to push your grade to the next higher letter grade. Do the math first! Come see me and I will help you work this out if you are concerned.
Creation of science apparatus
You may make prior arrangements with me to do an extra special
project. An example of this is to make a durable piece of science
equipment to be kept in the science room and be used with students in future years. In the past students have made
beds of nails, model catenary arches and other elaborate projects.
Partners
You may do an extra credit assignment with a partner. If the project
really shows a lot of work and quality, both partners will get the full
share of points. If the assignment is just ok, both partners will split
the points given. Partners may be from your class or another class.
