Sci Share is a program I am initiating so that those who have extra science equipment or books can give these supplies to teachers who need them.
Right now Sci Share is a one-man operation run by me: John Baglio (Email me) at the Fieldston School in the Riverdale Section of the Bronx. It is the responsibility of the recipient of any supplies to pick them up at the donor's location. Right now the donations are at Fieldston.
You can learn more about Fieldston as well as obtain directions by car or public transportation at www.ecfs.org. Click on the Fieldston tab.
By the way, if you can't find what you are looking for here, you might also want to try Cornell Med School Science Equipment Lending Library. They have a wide selection of equipment for loan. Their materials are largely focused on biology but they also have class sets of data probeware that could apply to any discipline.
How it works:
* Post anything you may need or anything you want to get rid of (serviceable equipment and books only). To do this, click the "Discuss" button on this page. Enter your information on screen that follows. Include your name, school and contact information.
* I will post them on the site and you can see the list below.
* You will then make arrangements to pick up the materials you need
* Try to put something up on the list if you take something so the supplies can grow
NOTE: Although all the equipment on Sci Share should be in safe and serviceable condition, the recipient(s) and user(s) assume all responsibility for its safe use. Everything is as is. Neither the Fieldston School nor I assume any of the responsibility for what happens to the equipment once it changes hands.
The List....
* 100 New transparent plastic test tubes (7.5 cm x 1.1 cm diam., approx 6mL each)
* Roughly 100 small to medium sized glass test tubes in varying states of cleanliness
* Many assorted books (mostly textbooks, 5 years old or less) in all disciplines, middle and high-school level
* 2 Mettler H80 analytical balances. Very high quality. 160 g capacity accurate to 0.1 mg. One works fine, one needs some service. We use someone who services these balances. Name available upon request.
* 2 New Texas Instruments CBL (calculator based labs) interfaces. Each is compatible with TI-82, and TI-85 graphing calculators (TI-83 may work as well). Each comes with 3 probes: voltage, light and temperature.
