According to historical fact, Dodgeball (originally called "Kameekee") originated deep in the bowles of Atlantis, being played by the incredibly masculine Atlantians. The sport was first played by modern man after the rules were found written on Egyptian, Roman, Mayan, and Chinese temple walls. The famous Donovan song "Atlantis" tells us how "The poet, the physician, the farmer, the Kameekee coach, the scientist, the magician, and the other so-called Gods of [their] legends." left their ill fated continent to travel the world and tell others about their lost civilization.

Ancient civilizations were shown to have excelled greatly at the sport, each having their own variations, but Dodgeball became extremely popular spectator sport during the Middle Ages, as "getting out" surely meant death or severe injury, for the ball-of-spikes was catapaulted from one side to another with a trebuchet.

Over the years, Dodgeball has lost it's former charm, but it has also evolved into an immensely competitive and popular way of life. Now, at the Ethical Culture Fieldston School, Dodgeball has once again risen to it's past glory. Every Tuesday at 3:30 in the afternoon, boys and girls of all ages gather in the lower gym to play the ancient game. A game that has been handed down from generation to generation.
