6th Grade Jazz Class

Welcome to 6th Grade Music Appreciation. This is a class for all 6th graders that will introduce you to the great jazz musicians listed below.

The class will end with a listening test on the following musicians:

Louis Armstrong - Trumpet player and scat singer

Duke Ellington - Colorful composiitons that tell a story. Lot's of soloists

Count Basie - Big Band with great ensemble playing

Ella Fitzgerald - Female singer with a beautiful clear tone. Great scat singer

Billie Holiday - Female singer with a haunting voice

Frank Sinatra - male jazz singer

Bobby McFerrin - imitates instruments, scat and lyrics at the same time

Charlie Parker - bebop saxophonists, fast modern playing

Miles Davis - Trumpet player, uses space.

John Coltrane - Minor key, serious. Tenor Sax
